Wise Up Podcast — The genius of Nick Saban
Episode 16Aug 2, 202452 min

The genius of Nick Saban

This episode explores the genius of Nick Saban .My personal collection of notes from keynotes, interviews and youth camps Nick Saban is a highly successful college football coach, known for his long tenure as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide., Saban has built a reputation as one of the greatest coaches in college football history. Under his leadership, Alabama has won multiple national championships and consistently been a top contender in the sport. My personal notes:] Expect them to give effort Mental toughness to persevere and sustain what we’re asking them to do Responsible enough to execute and do it the way were asking them to do it None of those things take any ability to give effort. It’s a mindset it’s an attitude. I am going to go as hard as I can go. I’m going to do the best I can Mental toughness- it’s going to be difficult... When you do things that are difficult it helps you get better Pay attention-everyone in this room should be looking at me right now I’m teaching you something. God didn’t make winners, god didn’t make losers – god made choosers Succeeding in this business is like a metaphor for life I’m gonna help you be more successful…what is being successful Consistency- need to know what you want to accomplish. Passion – important to you Invest your time is doing something that is going to help you get to your goal or spend your time. spending time is playing games on your phone (accomplishes nothing) You get what you put into this business Perseverance – stick with things and learn from experiences. Are you going to take criticism as criticism or as someone trying to teach you something and make you better I am never criticizing you – we are correcting you The best opportunity to learn is when you make a mistake You cant have great victories in life without adversity – adversity is what makes it a challenge Your always selling something – are you selling confidence or selling shy. Look people right in the eye The way you present yourself What are you selling today - ? Are you selling positive energy? Or negative energy? Relentless competitor- have to be – Friday the 13 – can’t kill em – relentless Are you getting the picture? Always coming back, always coming back – resilient Character- accumulations of your thoughts and priorities – affects the choices you make – it’s all about choices in life that lead to your results Priorities/discipline – Pain of discipline or pain of disappointment What your supposed to ,when you’re supposed to do it the way you’re supposed to do it- you’ll always going to be disappointed – failure Discipline, relentless and pride Habits My goal is to give you have a better chance of succeeding Fatigue makes cowards of us all- Mindset is the most important thing- You gotta have a vision – know what you want to do . To accomplish that vision – You know there is something that you’re supposed to do it – can you make your self do it – that discipline- or something you know you’re not supposed to do it It’s your decisions or choices Respect and trust your co-workers Are you drivin to be the best at what you do? Be where your feet are ! in the moment- not the past good or bad ( complacency ) Today !! Today!! Complacency is the killer of success-poison Human beings are designed to survive or average – Human nature It’s special to be great You have to be uncomfortable to be successful Create an atmosphere that gives our employees a chance to be successful Leadership: the ability to affect and influence someone else for their benefit. Not manipulate people for your benefit- You have to care about people. They don’t care about what you know until they know you care. When you let negative people talk about negative things all day , ask them what are they selling today ? People have to know what the expectation is so they can be accountable to them – everyone has to buy into the standard. Standard that you have to define – Pay the price up front for success Stick with things, overcome the adversity Can’t be great victories without adversity – book “the road less traveled” Life is difficult Failings are going to help you be successful Everybody has to buy into our standard Surround yourself with talent Create a process Manage the message Stick to your guns Dress for success Relentless in recruiting Get the details right

Episode 8Jul 8, 202334 min

MANIAC

Be a Maniac in your Life and Career Grant Cardone Being a "maniac" is typically associated with negative connotations, as it refers to someone who is excessively enthusiastic, obsessive, or unstable in their behavior. However, if we were to explore the idea of finding positive aspects in extreme enthusiasm or dedication, we could consider the following perspectives: Intense Passion: A person who is referred to as a "maniac" may exhibit an intense passion for a particular interest or pursuit. This level of passion can drive them to excel in their chosen field, pushing boundaries and achieving remarkable results. Their unwavering dedication can inspire others and lead to groundbreaking innovations or exceptional achievements. Perseverance: Being a "maniac" often implies a relentless pursuit of goals, even in the face of challenges or setbacks. This tenacity can be advantageous when it comes to overcoming obstacles, as it enables individuals to maintain focus and push through difficult times. Such determination can result in personal growth and the ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. Boundary Breaking: People labeled as "maniacs" may be unafraid to challenge norms and question the status quo. By thinking outside the box and taking unconventional approaches, they can introduce fresh ideas and disrupt existing systems. This can lead to innovative solutions, new perspectives, and advancements in various fields. Inspiration and Motivation: Maniacs who exhibit contagious enthusiasm can inspire and motivate others around them. Their energy and commitment can ignite a spark in those who witness their drive, encouraging them to pursue their own passions with renewed vigor. Maniacs can become catalysts for change and inspire positive transformations in individuals or even communities. It's important to note that while these positive aspects can be associated with extreme enthusiasm, it is essential to maintain a balance and ensure that the intensity doesn't lead to harmful or destructive behavior. Moderation and consideration of others' well-being are crucial in channeling enthusiasm in a constructive manner.

Wise Up Podcast — SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Episode 1Apr 13, 202323 min

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

Episode 1 Specialized knowledge During the world war, a Chicago newspaper published certain editorials in which, among other statements, Henry Ford was called "an ignorant pacifist." Mr. Ford objected to the statements, and brought suit against the paper for libeling him. When the suit was tried in the Courts, the attorneys for the paper pleaded justification, and placed Mr. Ford, himself, on the witness stand, for the purpose of proving to the jury that he was ignorant. The attorneys asked Mr. Ford a great variety of questions, all of them intended to prove, by his own evidence, that, while he might possess considerable specialized knowledge pertaining to the manufacture of automobiles, he was, in the main, ignorant. Mr. Ford was plied with such questions as the following: "Who was Benedict Arnold?" and "How many soldiers did the British send over to America to put down the Rebellion of 1776?" In answer to the last question, Mr. Ford replied, "I do not know the exact number of soldiers the British sent over, but I have heard that it was a considerably larger number than ever went back." Finally, Mr. Ford became tired of this line of questioning, and in reply to a particularly offensive question, he leaned over, pointed his finger at the lawyer who had asked the question, and said, "If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below an expert for the movie Good Will Hunting – ( an excellent example of General Knowledge vs Specialized) https://youtu.be/dEIQSbul9Os “You're a tough kid. And I'd ask you about war, you'd probably throw Shakespeare at me, right, "once more unto the breach dear friends." But you've never been near one. You've never held your best friend's head in your lap, watch him gasp his last breath looking to you for help”
